How To Reduce Your Risk Of Cancer
Don’t Smoke
Smoking can increase the risk of various cancers such as lung, pancreas, bladder and kidney. Tobacco is full of toxic ingredients that are seriously damaging to your overall health, but particularly your lungs. It can cause your lungs to darken over time and can cause breathing issues in the long-run.
Diet
Avoid processed meat and high-calorie snacks. Ensure you consume fruits and vegetables that are rich in phytochemical. Plant-based foods, like berries, vegetables, and nuts, contain more antioxidants than animal products. Research suggests that eating more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains may reduce your risk of several types of cancer. In addition to plant-based diets, you should also limit red meat and sugar.
Try to reduce your alcohol consumption. Alcohol consumption has been linked to liver cancer, breast cancer and kidney cancer. If you do choose to drink alcohol, drink in moderation or only on certain occasions.
Exercise
Physical activity is the key to keeping your body fit and healthy. Not only does exercise aid your cardiovascular health, but it helps your body’s immune system to fight off infection. People who participate in weekly physical activity, are more likely to avoid cancer risks and their body has better ability in fighting off cancer cells.
Stay Out Of The Sun
Staying in the sun for long periods of time, especially during summer between the hours of 10AM-4PM can cause serious sun damage to your skin. The sun can increase your risk of skin cancer due to the strong UV rays that it produces.
Be sure to wear sunscreen of at least SPF 30 and reapply every two hours when possible. This will add a protective barrier to your skin, ensuring the sun does not cause damage. It is also important to cover any moles that you may have on your body as well as getting new or enlarging moles checked by a doctor.
