Book for change campaign

A Book for Change Campaign is a Rights to quality education movement through which stakeholders are mobilized to advocate for increased access to quality education, books and information. Young people are also empowered to take up participatory roles in their community by helping the younger generation with literacy and reading.
The campaign involves an online advocacy and awareness alongside a book drive and an event where various stakeholders including academicians, writers, educationist, poets and the general public are brought together to raise a voice for the right of children to quality education.

CAMPAIGN OBJECTIVES

- To advocate for the right of children in rural areas to quality education.
- To mobilize young people to participate in educating young people within their communities.
- To collect books for infrastructural support by starting community libraries.

HOW THE OBJECTIVES WERE ACHIEVED

Book donations of over 1000 was registered.
Through the campaign, the first community library in the state was started with over 1000 books and now serves over 1,500 students, teachers and members of the community.
26 trained students from rural communities are currently carrying out educational support projects to support children within their communities have access to quality education by organizing after school programs, reading lessons, spelling competitions and a lot more.

CAMPAIGN INNOVATIONS

The event which also served as a book drive had a gate pass of at least one book for admittance into the event. Through this, we got enough books to start our first community library.

CAMPAIGN IMPACT

Over 2,000 people were reached through the literacy program of the campaign; more than 100 teachers now have access to learning materials used to teach students. Over 100 students now have access to educational resources to help them academically.
The 26 students trained through leadership training are working with more than 200 students and affecting their communities through their projects.
