Defending minorities' rights in Pakistan
Defending minorities' rights and working for the empowerment of people with disabilities (PWDs) in Swat Valley and working towards bringing harmony among the masses and working for a tolerant society where each person must be respected for being human and not what cast or religion or sect they belong to.
To build religious harmony among the different sects, building the confidence of minority communities in the majority, bringing out the issues and problems of minorities and providing them with a platform where they can speak about their issues.
HOW THE OBJECTIVES WERE ACHIEVED
By doing sessions with minorities, by providing them with a platform through seminars and workshops, where they spoke about their issues and problems. Mass awareness was also conducted.
Minorities had never spoken about their issues and it was for the first time they had an opportunity to participate in the events where they could speak openly to the stakeholders about their issues.
The campaign had a positive impact - they came forward with their issues and openly discussed their issues. They even came forward to support the victimes of the APS massacare in Peshawar - they openly spoke on it in a press conference.
The biggest challenge was to break the ice between minorities and majority Muslims and strengthen their relationship and trust.
if we want a peaceful world their must be religious harmony.
